Founded in 1984 as Aerobie, Inc. by inventor and retired Stanford University engineering instructor Alan Adler, the company initially specialized in manufacturing high-performance sport toys. Among its notable creations was the Aerobie Pro flying ring, which gained fame for setting a Guinness World Record for the farthest thrown object.
In 2004, Alan Adler shifted his focus to the brewing process, aspiring to craft a superior cup of coffee. This pursuit led to the creation of the AeroPress Original, which made its debut to widespread acclaim in 2005 and has since been distributed in over 60 countries. The AeroPress also spurred the inception of the World AeroPress Championship, a global event where coffee enthusiasts from more than 50 nations compete to concoct the finest cup of coffee using their preferred AeroPress recipe.
In 2017, the company divested its Aerobie sport toy line and rebranded as AeroPress, Inc. With a core ethos centered on smart design and innovation, AeroPress, Inc. is dedicated to inspiring coffee aficionados worldwide to reimagine their coffee rituals, in collaboration with its customers, partners, and the World AeroPress Championship.
